Jay-Z's doppelganger appears in 1939 photo

A vintage photo has many wondering if Jay-Z was living the "hard knock life" during the Great Depression.  A man that looks similar to the rap superstar appears in Sid Grossman's 1939 photo of "Harlem Loiterers" from the Prints Collection of the New York Public Library's Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.  The photo was posted on the Center's Facebook and Twitter page last week.

Since then it has gone viral, with many wondering whether Jay-Z is a secret time traveler.  According to the New York Public Library's Tumblr account, Schomburg's Curator of Digital Collections Sylviane A. Diouf stumbled on the picture while researching an exhibit.  She was "immediately struck" by the man's resemblance to Jay-Z, causing her to actually laugh out loud.

With all the press the picture has been getting, Diouf says she hopes someone will be able to tell the Center who Jay's doppelganger really is.
