(Cleveland) - Gas prices have soared in the greater Cleveland area since last Monday. The average price for a gallon of self-serve, regular grade averages $3.84, up from $3.69 seven days ago.
Greg Laskoski with Clevelandgasprices.com says problems with refineries in the midwest and Great Lakes region including refineries in Illinois, Indiana, Kansas and Oklahoma are sprurring the volitility.
Laskoski does not expect prices at the pumps to reverse themselves any time soon. In fact, he says, we could see gas hit the $4.00 barrier by the highly traveled Memorial Day holiday weekend.
Laskoski says it will take upwards of two weeks for prices to start trending downward.
