(Cleveland) - A Cleveland councilman says one of the three women found together after about a decade of captivity told him she's looking forward to doing the things that other young women do.
Councilman Matt Zone said he briefly visited 22-year-old Gina DeJesus Thursday during her first morning at her parent’s house since returning home.
Zone says Gina’s mom Nancy Ruiz introduced the councilman to her daughter, and told her that Zone is one of the people who’d been working with them all these years. Zone got a warm embrace from Gina that he calls “a special moment that I’ll never forget.”
When Zone asked Gina what she wanted to do next, Gina said she wanted to get her hair done and go to the dentist.
Zone also says she wants to buy and learn how to put on makeup. We have to remember, says Zone, that DeJesus was only 14 when she was kidnapped.
He also says DeJesus "had a smile from ear to ear" and told him she had slept in Thursday morning. He says the young woman seemed very comfortable being back at home after all those years of captivity.
DeJesus and two other women were found Monday at the Cleveland home of a man now charged with kidnapping and raping them.
Ariel Castro is being held on $8 million bail. He didn't comment in court.
