Shooting threat at Perry High School

(Perry) – A shooting threat has been found in a Lake County high school.

Jack Thompson, Superintendent of the Perry Local School District says the threatening message was written in a restroom stall at Perry High School sometime Thursday morning.

In a statement, Thompson says the message was written in the boy's restroom and stated, "There's going to bee a shooting" "Beware this isn't a joke." "Friday." "Cancell school Friday."

Thompson says police are confident this is a hoax. However, as a precautionary measure, they are immediately escalating supervision and monitoring protocol.

Students and visitors at the high school will be under the district’s "stay-put" procedures unless receiving specific approval from an authorized staff member.

There will also be an increased presence of police visible on campus Friday.

If you have any information relevant to this investigation, please contact the building principal at 440-259-3511 or the Perry Village Police at 440-259-5292.

Thomson adds, “Safety is the number one priority of Perry Schools. We take any threat to that safety very seriously. Thank you for your continued support of the Perry Local School District.”
