(Cleveland) -- John Lanigan, who has been a familiar presence on Cleveland radio since 1970, signed off for the final time Monday morning, stepping down from the morning "Lanigan and Malone Show" on Majic 105.7, WMJI.
Lanigan, who is retiring after 28 years on WMJI, and 13 years before that on WGAR, really had no final speech to his listeners, basically letting co-hosts Jimmy Malone, Chip Kullik and Tracey Carroll do all the talking.
Members of Lanigan's family, including his wife Sandy, adult children and grandchildren were all in the studio for the final farewell. Dozens of well-wishers were outside the studio for a reception planned for after the show.
One thing that Lanigan did to officially commemorate his retirement was to take his old battered briefcase and throw it in the trash.
Malone, Kullik and Carroll are still staying on as part of the new "Majic Morning Show" which will be hosted by former Channel 3 weatherman and news anchor Mark Nolan.
