AUDIO: Curbside Service: Food Trucks In Cleveland

(Cleveland) - It seems food trucks are all the rage downtown...with more workers embracing the rolling restaurants at lunch time.

Why they are they so popular? Newsradio WTAM 1100 spoke with food truck fans. Some say it's all the publicity the mobile eateries have been receiving recently.

Others believe it's the changing workplace. With employees spending more time at their desks, they don't have the time to visit a sit-down restaurant.

Others contend it is varied and exotic menus many food trucks offer, a break from the regular routine of burgers and fries, and prices seem to be reasonable. Some say food trucks are the most exciting development in Cleveland’s business district in several years.

Food truck operators contend business is booming partly because of the exotic meals they offer.

Tony Brigandi run's Tony's Truck Stop, and admits his sales started off slow, but claims business is improving as people learn more about his product. Never-the-less he's having a lot of fun meeting and serving the public.

Bringing a Mediterranean favor to downtown Cleveland is Chef Grey Wolf...who prepares recipes from around the world, and has decades of experience in the food and restaurant business.

Bringing a Mediterranean favor to downtown Cleveland is Chef Grey Wolf...who prepares recipes from around the world, and has decades of experience in the food and restaurant business.

He recently decided to run his own food truck and says business is booming, thanks in part to the trend toward healthier lifestyles.

Dave Kilgore owns the food truck Pigaliscous, serving smoked Cuban roast pork. He says business is great and serves 100 people a day during the noon hour.

When asked if he is taking business away from sit-down restaurants, Kilgore says it's a changing marketplace and to survive you have to compete.
