Flood damage? Helpful hints from Ohio's Lt. Governor

In the wake of Mondays severe weather and flooding; Ohio's Lt. Governor Mary Taylor passed on some valuable advice for home owners facing damage due to flooding. Lt. Governor Taylor; who happens to be the Insurance Commissioner, says to first assess the total damage. One way to do that is to record the damage with your cell phone or another recording device. Taylor added that you should then immediately contact your policy holder to determine if your policy has coverage for flooding, The Lt. Governor also said to contact a contractor as soon as possible because many contractors will be booked up with other work.
