Human remains found in the search for Christina Adkins

(Cleveland) --  Police have delivered skeletal remains that they discovered in the area that the Violent Crimes Task Force was searching today near I-490 and I-71.

The Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed that the remains are human. Unfortunately it could take weeks for the identification process to be completed.

The FBI was led to this area in their search for Christina Adkins who has been missing since 1995. This is the third such search in recent weeks, but the only one in which human remains were discovered.

Adkins has been missing since January 11, 1995. She was 17 and pregnant when she disappeared.

Cleveland Police are questioning convicted sex offender Elias Acevedo in the disappearance of Christina Adkins.

He's in the Cuyahoga County Jail, for charges in a 1993 rape case. He's 44 years old and lived in the Vega Avenue home the FBI searched back in August.
