Prison for a man in a child sex crime case

(Akron) — An Akron man who admitted that he used Craigslist to try to arrange a sexual encounter with a child has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports that 35-year-old Jeffrey Richardson pleaded guilty in court in Akron Monday to charges of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and attempted conspiracy to kidnapping.

Prosecutors said Richardson posted an ad on the Internet classified ad site that sought to exploit children sexually.

An agent from the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force began communicating with Richardson, posing as the father of a 12-year-old girl. Prosecutors said Richardson emailed photos of young children to another undercover agent and offered access to a child in exchange for access to another person's relatives.
