Waiting for a verdict in the Harry Jacob trial

(Cleveland) - A Bedford Municipal Court judge is waiting to learn his fate, now that testimony and arguments have ended in his sex and corruption trial.

Even though a number of the charges against Judge Harry Jacob were thrown out because of lack of evidence or motive, assistant Cuyahoga County prosecutor Christopher Schroeder called on Common Pleas Judge Brian Corrigan to convict Jacob of the sex and corruption charges that remained. Four are felonies.

Among the charges Judge Corrigan tossed out dealt with bribery, dereliction of duty, and solicitation.

However, defense attorney David Grant claimed Jacob was only guilty of misdemeanors, and not felonies when it came to his association with prostitutes.

Grant also maintained that the testimony given by the three former hookers was unreliable, because all had lied to investigators at some point during the case.

Now that closing arguments are over, the verdict will be decided solely by Judge Corrigan because this is not a jury trial. His decision is expected in about 2 weeks.
